Hello Crafters!<br />
<br />
I apologize for my absence but life threw me a curve and I have had to make some adjustments. Since my last post in November of last year I have injured my arm which is almost healed now, helped my oldest find & participate in 2 job training programs and have lost 5 family members including my father. It has taken some time to pull it all together and i have come a long way. I am still not ready to post on a daily basis but, I promise I will be posting more often for your viewing pleasure. So check back often to see what I am up to and please, by all means, leave a comment. I love to hear from all of you.<br />
<br />
Happy Crafting!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have another challenge from the purple team this week at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a>. <a href="http://iona-rose.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Andria</a> has chosen for us all to make "Anything But a Card" this time around. Great theme. I am anxious to start posting Christmas projects and that will come pretty soon. But, for now, I have chosen this week for my last (I think) Fall project for this year. This is also a perfect project for <a href="http://myshericrafts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">My Sheri Crafts</a> theme of Fall/Thanksgiving for this week.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl7k3gcdKzxWE3m-Mm69SiuFgk2fH44pai5dZJSHHJDUSGJ0rSj020POPLq2gJtGVcnyKPQ8AxOv1kSKFz4MRCgJnC484dZ31mjp5oD6eWWbpJHFLSOP-0Yei15VVYnct6xy5uEe1lXIu2/s1600/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3135.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl7k3gcdKzxWE3m-Mm69SiuFgk2fH44pai5dZJSHHJDUSGJ0rSj020POPLq2gJtGVcnyKPQ8AxOv1kSKFz4MRCgJnC484dZ31mjp5oD6eWWbpJHFLSOP-0Yei15VVYnct6xy5uEe1lXIu2/s400/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3135.png" height="400" width="386" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I needed a wreath for my front door and fell in love with the burlap ribbon that I saw at Hobby Lobby and Micheal's. So, I picked some up along with a wire frame and started cutting the burlap down to the size I wanted. I didn't want to do the usual looping through for my wreath. I wanted the edges to be "raw" to add a more rustic feel to the overall project. I used <span style="background-color: #fce5cd;">hot glue</span> to attach the ribbon strips and alternated the colors. the light colored ribbon here is cream not white. I need to work on my photo exposures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir3FUXZzlr-jcslg9lFQ1TwHhZdii-ibj_i_a71Rj3A5jnmb9HsEdgaH9LKBDgTqzD6XyFXB1PZmFZmY_9UVT9-pdqjP43C2hs2xM6wvvi0DAC7LwrlUuN-5hN9qLdS1jRQt18lhENJqFz/s1600/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3138.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir3FUXZzlr-jcslg9lFQ1TwHhZdii-ibj_i_a71Rj3A5jnmb9HsEdgaH9LKBDgTqzD6XyFXB1PZmFZmY_9UVT9-pdqjP43C2hs2xM6wvvi0DAC7LwrlUuN-5hN9qLdS1jRQt18lhENJqFz/s400/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3138.JPG" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, I have to tell you. This was a pretty messy step because the burlap needed to be trimmed after it was all glued on. I had burlap fibers flying everywhere (picture an Edward Scissor Hands screenshot here - lol). I still have bits and pieces of it all over the floor in my craft room. Oh, BTW, I had to remove the wires from the ribbon too so my scissors would go through. It just killed me to have throw the wire away but, I couldn't find a good enough excuse to keep it so in the trash it went.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I made my layered accordion fold paper flowers. The large ones were 1-1/2" x 12" scored every 1/4" and the small ones were 1" x 12" scored every 1/2". The buttons in the center were from my button box. I couldn't decide whether to make them all the same or not so, I ended up with the same style button in two different colors. I, again sticking to my commitment of using up my stash, used papers I had on my shelf. I used <span style="background-color: #fce5cd;">hot glue </span> to attach the flowers and buttons to each other and the burlap on the wreath.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVscEIJ7nW98W8B5yylCm84YXVat8TV0sOp3tAQadvHCUKlAggY7wxaImcfZqCB5j3cxNdP2dcWp6nw6tl9Ff5qEQxUSeCVSn2LggYqfNiQ41-Y1Q2Ap80A5EBDELKQ0VgUvEAi7wgY3Xj/s1600/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3136.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVscEIJ7nW98W8B5yylCm84YXVat8TV0sOp3tAQadvHCUKlAggY7wxaImcfZqCB5j3cxNdP2dcWp6nw6tl9Ff5qEQxUSeCVSn2LggYqfNiQ41-Y1Q2Ap80A5EBDELKQ0VgUvEAi7wgY3Xj/s400/FH-2013+11-Fall+Wreath-Patricia+Dolinsek+3136.png" height="396" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The bow was made with some silky brown ribbon that has been in my ribbon rack for at least 2-3 years. I know, it's sad. That's why I am using my stash. Anyway, I added some pretty rust colored organdy ribbon and some striped ribbon for contrast in color and texture in the ribbons and contrast to the roughness of the burlap. I found an extra large brown button and added a little bling to the center, after all there was a dip in the middle just made for it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Truly eclectic, don't you think?</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm a little behind in my blogging this week but I'm hoping you'll understand. I am keeping things simple this month for <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Ecletics</a> and posting a couple of Halloween projects that I made. The first one is pretty much a copy from <a href="http://www.thriftycraftygirl.com/2011/10/31-days-of-halloween-eyes-in-bushes.html" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>. I have a picture tutorial I made below with brief explanations. The things I did different than the original was (1) painted the rolls black so they would be better hidden, (2) added the wax paper to hide the glow sticks, (3) used glow sticks instead of Christmas lights so no plug-ins were needed, and (4) used plastic pumpkin eyes from last years pumpkin carving kit on a couple of the rolls.</div>

Now, here's another project I was inspired by <a href="http://www.crazyaboutmybaybah.com/easy-halloween-craft-pumpkin-light/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> to make. The original was a plastic pumpkin bucket that the kids use to gather their goodies. I looked all over town for a white one that would give me a more "ghostly" look and never found one. So, I took 2 empty gallon milk jugs and cut the handles and bottoms off. I also cut up the back sides as suggested on the Pinterest inspiration project so that the milk jugs would fit over my outside light fixtures. Then I took a permanent Sharpie pen and colored in the eyes and mouths of each "ghost". When that was done and dry (almost immediately) I taped a white kitchen trash bag to the inside around the bottom (top) of the milk jug. Then with my scissors I cut the trash bag into strips up to the bottom of the milk jug. The first picture is with the light on and second one is with the light off (hubby replaced bulb in time for Halloween). The first one is a little wind-blown as it was put up earlier in the day (a wet and windy day I might add).</div>

Hello Crafters!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://scullduggery-cardsbyjacki.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Jacki</a> from the purple team over at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> has chosen a pretty cool theme this week. Inspired by a movie is a great theme and I took advantage of the holiday that is just around the corner (Halloween) and chose The Wizard of OZ for my project. Now, I have also up-cycled this project. The bag below came from my eye doctor's visit. I love the bags we get from them (I get four new ones each year!). There was a sticky label with the doc's logo on it that I removed then decorated the bag to fit our theme this week. Take a peek:</div>

I just love Graphic 45 and their Wizard of Oz paper was just the ticket for this project. As this was in my stash for a year or so, I am keeping with the promise to myself to use up the products I have.</div>

These "stamp" images were distressed and popped up on the upper portion of the bag. Had to add a little glitter in a couple of places.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The group picture was distressed as well and backed with black tulle. I used hot glue to attach the tulle (that I scrunched as I went along) and foam tape and hot glue to attach it to the bag. I then added a little red glitter glue to Dorothy's shoes and the Tin Man's heart.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the bottom of the bag I added black rose ribbon across the width with hot glue and used foam tape again to attach the distressed witch stamp.</div>

I hope you like my project this week. But don't stop here. <div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been chosen to be the guest designer over at <a href="http://www.blissfulanddomestic.com/" target="_blank">Blissful and Domestic</a> this week and was asked by Danielle to do a Halloween project for you. There are so many great projects out there to choose from but, choose I must. So I started looking around on Pinterest a bit to get some good ideas that I could incorporate into my project. I have to tell you, you can spend hours "blissfully" going from one pin to another. Ultimately, I decided on a banner for my piano or mantle. Won't you join me for a tutorial?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As a mom of two teenagers I keep pretty busy taking care of my boys and hubby but I love to craft every chance I get. I have been crafting ever since I can remember. I especially love rubber stamping and paper crafts. I have a stash of yarn and jewelry as well. I also enjoy up-cycling projects from things that would normally go into the recycle bin. So coming up with a project for Danielle wasn't hard but I wanted the perfect piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, here goes. I have recently discovered that tulle in my crafting can really make a project pop. So I gathered some orange, purple, and green to get started. Oh what fun! I also wanted to use some ribbon. Now, anybody that knows me knows that this is a textile I just can't resist. I also gathered up some papers and card stock to create some accordion flowers. The banner I made here is using some banner panels from Stampin Up that I picked up recently. Mostly I used stuff from my stash. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I cut 1-1/4" & 3/4" strips from Graphic 45 Halloween papers to make my flowers. They are 12" in length and scored every 1/4". Ends were glued together with strong sticky tape. If you haven't made these before they can be a little tricky. Just push the top of the folds on one side to the center and use hot glue to hold them in place. I topped them with filler brads from Stampin' Up and added colored bling dots from my stash to the centers then glued them to the paper flowers. The orange bling wasn't quite a dark enough orange to suit me so used an orange Sharpie marker to color it a bit darker. Loved the way these turned out.</div>

Next I embellished the canvas banners. They were pretty light colored so I inked them up a bit using a sponge and some gray ink. I decorated these as I might a card front really. I used up quite a bit of the embellishments in my stash, not to mention my new fence punch from Martha Stewart (found at Michael's).</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
The punch for the little ghosties is from Stampin Up. It's actually the owl punch turned upside down. I positioned the eyes on two of them so they would look like they were looking at each other. The stamps I used on these banners were from the dollar bin at Memories on 5th when I worked there a few years ago. All my embellishments were sticky backed but I added some Aleene's Clear Tacky glue to make sure they would be there for a long time. After all, this project is a keeper. I added the ghost eyes and the ghosts with tacky glue as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next thing I worked on was the little witch legs. This is a similar idea to one I saw on Pinterest. The difference here is that I used heavy card stock for the legs instead of cloth and added tulle in the next step. I made the boots first from a pattern I got several years a go from a crafting magazine. You can also use this boot pattern for an elf''s boot with some minor adjustments(don;t cut out heal and curve it at the bottom). I have two of these little witches so I traced and cut four boots and legs. I punched holes and laced with orange ribbon that I tied in a bow. The boots were hot glued to the bottom of the legs and the legs were folded over at least a couple of inches onto my "tulle rope". </div>

To add some "cuteness" to my witch I wanted more than what I saw on Pinterest. So I gathered up some black tulle and made a skirt. Too plain. A purple bow with a button center was the perfect fix. Hot glue in to place.</div>

I started cutting the tulle I bought into 1" strips. This was not an exact science. It was a guesstimate. I also looked through my hoard of ribbon, chose an assortment I thought would look good. Definitely eclectic. So, now I have all my supplies and I get start assembling.</div>

<br />
Just a thought worth mentioning. I wanted all my ribbons placed somewhat evenly throughout my project and didn't always have the exact amount to each of every ribbon all the way across. So I laid out my project on my craft table and started dividing up my treasures.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Time to assemble. I took a piece of orange tulle that was about 6' long and bunched it up so that it was a sort of rope for me to anchor my project on. I tied a knot on the far left and started attaching ribbon and 1" tulle pieces with and overhand knot.</div>

<br />
I had a section of ribbon then added my paper flower with hot glue. Again, somewhat tricky. I have the blisters to prove it. Hold your project CAREFULLY while the glue cools. After the flower I added some more ribbon.<br />

Add more ribbon a paper flower, more ribbon and tie the tulle rope in a knot. Ta Da! The only other thing I did was add some string to hang it with. This turned out to be such a long banner I had to pull it up in the middle when I hung it on my piano.</div>

I will say, if you choose to do a project of this type with all the embellishments I have here, give yourself plenty of time to get it done. I wanted to give this away as a gift or sell it. However, I fell in love with it so I'm going to keep this one. I hope you'll give it a try. It's fun!</div>

Thank you Danielle for letting me be your Guest Designer. It was a lot of fun coming up with this tutorial for you.</div>

Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have been chosen to be the guest designer over at <a href="http://www.blissfulanddomestic.com/" target="_blank">Blissful and Domestic</a>
this week. If you have not been to Danielle's site you must check it out. She has everything from menu plans to tutorials to thrifty living for your viewing pleasure. I was asked to do a Halloween project for you.
There are so many great projects out there to choose from so I started looking around on Pinterest a bit to get some good
ideas that I could incorporate into my project. I have to tell you, you
can spend hours "blissfully" going from one pin to another. Ultimately, I
decided on a banner for my piano or mantle. Won't you join me for a
tutorial? Here's a teaser of my project you will find over there. Just click on the picture and you will go directly to her site.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Treasure Hunt is still on over <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> and I hope you all are playing along in all the fun. We still have a couple of weeks to go so if you haven't gotten in on the hunt it's not too late. With prizes everyday you sure don't want to miss it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am a little late posting (should have been yesterday) but I took a little mini road trip to see my sister and go on what we call "Scenic Drive" this last weekend. It's like a county wide craft show. Boy is it fun. The weather was beautiful and we scored a few items for ourselves. Sis likes to collect antiques so she found a few quirky items and some barn wood signs that I wish would go with my decor. They were pretty cool. I did score 3 little primitive items that I think I can incorporate into a wreath for Halloween. Might not get done year but that will give me something to look forward to for next year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, so on with my project. As you know we are celebrating our 1st year blogaversary at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> so this week <a href="http://tinkerellas-bastelwelt.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Elisa</a> chose a 1st birthday theme for us. I chose to make a telescoping card with a pattern I got from Vicki at <a href="http://crackerboxpalacestamping.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Crackerbox Palace blog</a>. Awesome pattern. She has some pretty cute stamps too if you would like to check them out. I so love cards with movement and special folds so this was really fun for me.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik78FQHqLAtteqy5IBA_vOb1aQIyOPDTEGHv-vmgTziEtzidAzaHon4wBq4AbNvOSZVNjJyU05FYMxWWWJ-NMOKjx6yjSQhMQoplnkmv-m5oa55kkG3mwVxFu_IvbsbAKaTcJ-it4f6uOz/s1600/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3044.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik78FQHqLAtteqy5IBA_vOb1aQIyOPDTEGHv-vmgTziEtzidAzaHon4wBq4AbNvOSZVNjJyU05FYMxWWWJ-NMOKjx6yjSQhMQoplnkmv-m5oa55kkG3mwVxFu_IvbsbAKaTcJ-it4f6uOz/s400/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3044.png" height="400" width="378" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first layer of the card is 4-1/4" square and the tiers get about 1/2" smaller than the one before it. I promised myself I would start using up my hoard of papers and supplies and that is just what I have done here.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdx53mQ-qwyHS5vTboHgzZmo9K-WKY5a2EMBivtYP5vW8pyldz84NTV2N2IWvaED24YyR_J4k5l4sw2ZmQ4jRaiXIdQL1GZKYeHRFXVl1tQdtZtVYNwBUhPfXqd3EJWPOlJze61InCSe9M/s1600/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3047.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdx53mQ-qwyHS5vTboHgzZmo9K-WKY5a2EMBivtYP5vW8pyldz84NTV2N2IWvaED24YyR_J4k5l4sw2ZmQ4jRaiXIdQL1GZKYeHRFXVl1tQdtZtVYNwBUhPfXqd3EJWPOlJze61InCSe9M/s400/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3047.png" height="400" width="262" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When you pull up on the tab at the top your second layer pops up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwpX9Z4s_Kj8feXjpQXgFOB0H4ypuRAY1MTkfivVupPbvx1GUEDX4ZCojZYoeJiZVLdadfmFGtFFojgBN4RQ5Tp-a2QcVlpG0F7EWgFW-S85ZhsUFKKa48aNcrDdy8qaYS6ektHG6dkKY/s1600/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3048.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwpX9Z4s_Kj8feXjpQXgFOB0H4ypuRAY1MTkfivVupPbvx1GUEDX4ZCojZYoeJiZVLdadfmFGtFFojgBN4RQ5Tp-a2QcVlpG0F7EWgFW-S85ZhsUFKKa48aNcrDdy8qaYS6ektHG6dkKY/s400/BD-2013+10-Celebrate-Patricai+Dolinsek+3048.png" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Keep pulling and you discover the flame on the candle is your pull tab. The embellishments are cut outs from paper in my stash and the flower is a sugared flower from Prima that I picked up last year. I used Stampin' Up's small star punch for the stars on the middle layer and the Happy Birthday is from Stampin' Up's Birthday Banter stamp set. When I cut out the candle the stem of the flame seemed a little weak to I backed it with the yellow cards stock for a "glow" to the candle and it worked better as the pull tab.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love the way this card turned out and I am absolutely sure that I will use the pattern on this card again. It really wasn't hard to make and only took one piece of 12x12 card stock for the base of the card. All I had to do after making the base is add the embellishments and that's it. Cool, huh? I may have to so this as a demo for my monthly card club. What do you think?</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have you ever had one of "those" days? Of course you have, we all have. I seem to be having one of "those" weeks as well. :-( Trying to keep my chin up and looking forward to stamp class with Susie this weekend. Her workshops always put me in a good mood. And, she has a couple more special ones coming up too that I hope I can attend.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So, because of the week I've had, I'm a little late getting my project posted for Altered Eclectics. But, here it is ...and you won't believe what I've done. Could hardly believe how it turned out myself. So, set your peepers on this:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBI1pKCCHXAxPiE1-tzFwJ1oTXH1HOo8FJ66qvlvzdstbaLOmxVxTnhF24C8jBoKz8xfajZZRij1sVxEy1gN3teOhQ2MqYv7V2sfj9EFNDm_KxSXm6MI4vzSZKxb3FrsquL7zCE_dUUTlU/s1600/Grocery+Bag+Purse-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBI1pKCCHXAxPiE1-tzFwJ1oTXH1HOo8FJ66qvlvzdstbaLOmxVxTnhF24C8jBoKz8xfajZZRij1sVxEy1gN3teOhQ2MqYv7V2sfj9EFNDm_KxSXm6MI4vzSZKxb3FrsquL7zCE_dUUTlU/s400/Grocery+Bag+Purse-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="338" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now you're probably thinking, what the heck is so special about a crochet purse. Well my friends, let me tell you. This is an up-cycled project. I made this entirely (except the button) from plastic shopping bags. Yep, you read that right. Plastic shopping bags. I found the idea last year while blog surfing and fell in love with it. I saved my grocery bags as around Halloween the stores use orange ones. You could really make some nice ones with the extra heavy bags. For this project it took a total of 17 bags (10 orange and 7 gray). Here's a group picture of the process:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUpb_JOmCKjCwpVcx_7skFO-i-7Ojq54G7Q7RL5-JcgHtDE0xxKGiKai5kC6-8K9_h9TgmuKN0Lh4Ta9L9BZ_-q-6jMPpLRzNxQLc8N3CsmHkRjWwdYGRz0mS1afIzNwia8Wyr9oEebOL/s1600/Grocery+Bag+Purse-steps-Patricia+Dolinsek.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUpb_JOmCKjCwpVcx_7skFO-i-7Ojq54G7Q7RL5-JcgHtDE0xxKGiKai5kC6-8K9_h9TgmuKN0Lh4Ta9L9BZ_-q-6jMPpLRzNxQLc8N3CsmHkRjWwdYGRz0mS1afIzNwia8Wyr9oEebOL/s400/Grocery+Bag+Purse-steps-Patricia+Dolinsek.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Instruction by the numbers:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Bag in it's original form</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Cut the bottom seam off with scissors.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. Flatten bag</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. Fold bag hot dog style</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. Repeat #4</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. Trim off a smidgen from the bottom to even out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
7. Cut 1" strips on trimmer for purse body</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
8. Cut 2" strips for handle</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
9. Unfold strips.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
10. Cut strips once to make one long piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
11. Lay ends of two different strips together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
12. Twist</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
13. Start tying a knot.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
14. Cinch up knot fairly firmly (don't stretch bag).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
15. Separate strips.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
16. Repeat steps 9-15 for all strips and wind into a ball of "plastic" yarn.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
17. Crochet purse with your favorite pattern and embellish with flower and button.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
18. Ta Da!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now, wasn't that easy? Tee Hee. Actually it is quite easy, just time consuming tying all those strips together and yes (for those who want to know) there is a bit of static going on when doing the tying and trimming. Not much, just enough to get a good chuckle out of it (like tape on a cats paw). This little bag is about 8" square. I have found several tutorials on YouTube if you need to see someone making a project. I did not connect my bags like others did because I wanted smaller "yarn" for smaller holes in the fabric. Just imagine what other projects you could do like tote bags, rugs or maybe even a beret? I saw one YouTuber that ironed her bags between craft paper and made a wallet. Oh what fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, I have missed a couple of challenges at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> this last month as I took some time off to do some sorting in my work room. Although I am not done, I have made a lot of progress and managed to have a garage sale as well. It's funny how we hang on to things. It has been an interesting experience making myself get rid of things that I once loved but, still haven't used for some time. The sale went well thanks to my friend Judy who joined me. Judy is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and as most demonstrators know you have to circulate your stamps in order to keep up with the new stuff. I am not a demonstrator but love Stampin' Up products and therefore had my share of "hoards" to sell. So all in all the sale went pretty well for both of us. We manage one about every two years.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, on with my challenge post. <a href="http://scullduggery-cardsbyjacki.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Jacki</a> is our hostess this time 'round for the purples. She has created this beautiful sketch for us to follow.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-7TqYhd3PrNyrMKHs-ztlLC6a6E57E2iEi1Ks4eZlLego8wy6t_6K3A_Rjl_tJfY_O0rimbdvmU-sa03CKgdEgRW6WAnUWflYbBXjTaWvywEOIriTr4me1GU6N0VJSHx2hQ1HOJLhWjTD/s1600/scullduggery1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-7TqYhd3PrNyrMKHs-ztlLC6a6E57E2iEi1Ks4eZlLego8wy6t_6K3A_Rjl_tJfY_O0rimbdvmU-sa03CKgdEgRW6WAnUWflYbBXjTaWvywEOIriTr4me1GU6N0VJSHx2hQ1HOJLhWjTD/s200/scullduggery1.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am still working in Fall and Halloween mode (but not for long) and made this card:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirwdMwz6-6UH8DtqVQSUk1H7SFwRl6FTpt7BkFE45_mCgn-OkgbFSqwI7zLpGQ-xdStTepJGXOEHsyWO8U9sEwz2zvjHT73Z7kQaqhKyo_L13xGfrkL1rMToVOwGlFCDNiCeNwDbSS5Izf/s1600/FH-2013+09-Booty-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirwdMwz6-6UH8DtqVQSUk1H7SFwRl6FTpt7BkFE45_mCgn-OkgbFSqwI7zLpGQ-xdStTepJGXOEHsyWO8U9sEwz2zvjHT73Z7kQaqhKyo_L13xGfrkL1rMToVOwGlFCDNiCeNwDbSS5Izf/s400/FH-2013+09-Booty-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="310" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I rather enjoyed this sketch. I used Green Galore card stock (SU - retired) as my card base and backed it with black card stock for depth. The purple paper is from The Angel Company and I used Only Orange card stock (SU - retired) for layering. The image is a current SU set. I stamped it in black then added color with my SU markers and added a bit of colored glitter glue to jazz it up. The ghost tag is from Michaels to which I added some glitter glue as well and popped up on foam tape (3M). I added little dots of orange glitter glue in the corners of the small black piece then added a tulle bow for a little more dimension.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't forget the <b>TREASURE HUNT</b> starts tomorrow for the Eclectics. Lots of prizes - 29 to be exact - and a grand draw at the end. Stop over to <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> tomorrow and get all the details. And hey, why not join us for the challenge as well. Fun for all in every direction!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a great day and of course -</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FTT</a> is in it's second week of new beginnings! The new challenge theme is Anything Goes with a charm. I thought this was a nice theme and it gave me a chance to use a charm I have been wanting to use for quite a while. Here's my fat page:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3vae8qjM1Tz8iSH2SLzD297cOULrGB-LsAqqI1MMP2FUnashIvgu1hdD3T5Gd2-wdPL4qJqt7a3tL6VfDx7Fa_M3w_BqlOCYVKZkqZ6blLvdk1zU5cIyOLZDgBmt0yWqCMsAV_UxdFxFj/s1600/BA-2013+09-Welcome+Baby+Moon-Patricia+Dolinsek-2626.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3vae8qjM1Tz8iSH2SLzD297cOULrGB-LsAqqI1MMP2FUnashIvgu1hdD3T5Gd2-wdPL4qJqt7a3tL6VfDx7Fa_M3w_BqlOCYVKZkqZ6blLvdk1zU5cIyOLZDgBmt0yWqCMsAV_UxdFxFj/s400/BA-2013+09-Welcome+Baby+Moon-Patricia+Dolinsek-2626.png" width="391" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Remember the old paper pack from last week? Well, I used it again, keeping the promise I made to myself. This time I have a yellow card stock base (SU retired color) that I layered my patterned paper on. I found the blue starred paper in my scrap bucket. The lace I acquired from a sale around 2 years ago. Using score tape, I folded and attached the lace to back side of the blue patterned paper then centered on the yellow patterned paper. I cut a 1-1/4" square from white card stock and a 1" square from yellow card stock. They are layered with 3M foam tape. I threaded white organdy ribbon (retired SU) through the jump ring on the charm and tied a bow. The bow and charm are attached with a glue dot (Zots). I stamped the sentiment (SU) in black Momento ink and punched out with a SU label punch. I added blue brads to both ends and foam tape to the back and popped up near the bottom of the page. Another pretty simple card. I like it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But, as I said last week, I plan on making bigger cards with my fat pages and here's what I did with this one:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UDrOBgni2mt1yUvl9UcW28Yjcf3MgJ2INzxn2SVnXLNOr8uuLB8F-xl2iohOBVmQ3yvOEXwROYGqKgszucsdYhtfy37FPq5EJ6R2L69V6wySW7AHOWpqhBBANq0iIp2I1SJdhZVUBeuS/s1600/BA-2013+09-Welcome+Baby+Moon-Patricia+Dolinsek-2628.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7UDrOBgni2mt1yUvl9UcW28Yjcf3MgJ2INzxn2SVnXLNOr8uuLB8F-xl2iohOBVmQ3yvOEXwROYGqKgszucsdYhtfy37FPq5EJ6R2L69V6wySW7AHOWpqhBBANq0iIp2I1SJdhZVUBeuS/s400/BA-2013+09-Welcome+Baby+Moon-Patricia+Dolinsek-2628.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have a bunch of small background stamps that I have collected over the years from SU that I love using. This one is actually from a Halloween set I think. I'm not totally sure as I keep them all in one big box. It was the perfect background stamp for this card, don't you think? The white card is trimmed to 5" square and backed with Blue Bayou card stock (retired SU) cut at 5-1/4". I wish I could have done this one in pink as I have a new grand niece on the way in October. I'll be doing a post on the gift I'm making for her soon. Anyway, I do like the way this card turned out and I am happy to be making cards with my fat pages.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, get over to <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fat-Tastic Tuesday</a> and check out the DT inspirations. Don't forget to leave them a little love when you visit their blogs. And won't you go back and join in the challenge? Fun to be had by all.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So much has been going on behind the scenes with <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FTT</a> that I can't even begin to tell you all of it. But, today we have a new owner, a new look and some new weekly challenges on the horizon. However, we still have the 4x4 theme going on. Check out the sidebar at <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FTT</a> for some great project ideas. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sue Bridesmith for taking over <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FTT</a> for Abbie and I as we move on to other pastures. I will hang out for a short time as a GDT for Sue while some of her team is on vacation. I know that Sue will do a smashing job and I hope ya'll will give her your continued support. Break a leg Sue (supposed to be good luck to say that)!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sue has chosen the first challenge as anything goes with buttons. Whats not to like about that? Pretty easy. So here's my project.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZy-OEb8Qs_2wu9aG2Wg5n3MZkdqtgnPo0CGtfb_LmgqYVhAGj3epdCd4tZUsNFzlnS8lySdc3wd_mB6FuNNJMfI2WKmD0u6g7K8-jtCmbSe-C4yVKMltjHzTh7NA3D8AN_QJU3tfe3HJh/s1600/FH-2013+09-Boo+Boy-Patricia+Dolinsek-2634.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZy-OEb8Qs_2wu9aG2Wg5n3MZkdqtgnPo0CGtfb_LmgqYVhAGj3epdCd4tZUsNFzlnS8lySdc3wd_mB6FuNNJMfI2WKmD0u6g7K8-jtCmbSe-C4yVKMltjHzTh7NA3D8AN_QJU3tfe3HJh/s400/FH-2013+09-Boo+Boy-Patricia+Dolinsek-2634.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As you can see, I'm still in Fall mode. It won't be long and you'll start seeing snowflakes and holly around here. Anyway, my friend Leslie gave me an ATC card pack (3 actually) and I found this cute little fellow on one of them. He was surrounded by pumpkins which I did not need this time so I made him into a small tag and added some orange bakers twine. I used chocolate chip card stock (SU) for my page base then layered the patterned paper from a paper pack I got over a year ago. I promised myself no more hoarding! I laid a doily down on the corners and inked a bit to add a little more dimension. Then I inked up the paper doily with chocolate chip ink (SU), cut in half, and added my twill ribbon which I also inked up with chocolate chip ink. The ribbon was wrapped up between the layers. I had to stick it down with score tape so it wouldn't tear the paper. I stapled (Tim Holtz's Tiny Attacher) a small piece of the twill ribbon over the long strip then added a leaf embellishment to finish it off. The "Boo" sentiment is a trimmed sticker. I used powder on the back to eliminate the sticky then inked the edges and popped up on foam tape (3M). Of course, everything is inked around the edges. Lastly, I added my buttons below the tag and on my "Boo" sticker. I like how the buttons are different sizes on the sticker. Cute. All in all, I was happy with my fat page. But, look what I did with it:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgO6JxqGNAH147cVr7abZhXrY2TjNwHLZsiEdtjXBs_CFrrYAznaHNPVm7wfh2UkVNQSsxo5OGhNMkeO6-QKiaSkE7oRuhetmD9RKXDS2shBArqCHZpsO4V-Wd7XK6Ccs5lH-ZqKz9kK5/s1600/FH-2013+09-Boo+Boy-Patricia+Dolinsek-2635.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdgO6JxqGNAH147cVr7abZhXrY2TjNwHLZsiEdtjXBs_CFrrYAznaHNPVm7wfh2UkVNQSsxo5OGhNMkeO6-QKiaSkE7oRuhetmD9RKXDS2shBArqCHZpsO4V-Wd7XK6Ccs5lH-ZqKz9kK5/s400/FH-2013+09-Boo+Boy-Patricia+Dolinsek-2635.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I popped it up on foam tape and added it to a 5-1/4" square card base. I stamped leaves in the background with the chocolate chip ink (stamped off once or twice first) then added the photo corners (punch from SU) using chocolate chip card stock and the patterned paper from the fat page. Love it! I have decided I will be doing this more often with my fat pages. I love the look.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Well, that's it for me today. Get on over to <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fat-Tastic Tuesday</a> and check out the Fat-Tastic team inspiration. And hey, why not join in the challenge? There's a great prize to be won!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here we are again with another lovely challenge from <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a>. The Purples are providing inspiration for you and <a href="http://iona-rose.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Andria</a> has chosen the theme "Sentiment". Now that means that the sentiment on your project must be the main focus. I think I can do that. Well, it turns out that the <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Eclectics</a> also have a new challenge starting today. So, I sort of combined them but I do have two projects.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of the two projects I did, I chose to do the card for EE. I needed to make a few Fall cards for the shop to fill in my seasonal display anyway and added a little extra "stuff" to make it a worthwhile post. So, here it is:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhHh7Hw-ickM98b4VltCAk0UsQI095yORr1B_D5KhNNYKTYkvXcsCYOsuB2GolY_-NHxV9R47EfCUTOsq9-iNrCSY-L8qIMnLyciBGj3Dtt8zW5JAXz8S8GJms-7PfOIuusU1Bhc3eqgMJ/s1600/FH-2013+08-Happy+Fall-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhHh7Hw-ickM98b4VltCAk0UsQI095yORr1B_D5KhNNYKTYkvXcsCYOsuB2GolY_-NHxV9R47EfCUTOsq9-iNrCSY-L8qIMnLyciBGj3Dtt8zW5JAXz8S8GJms-7PfOIuusU1Bhc3eqgMJ/s400/FH-2013+08-Happy+Fall-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I so wanted to ad "YA'LL" to the bottom right of the card but it just didn't fit with all the "pretty" stuff I had going on. The card is pretty self explanatory so I won't go into a lot of detail. However, I did add each of those little green bling dots individually which explains why they are a little crooked. lol. The flowers are from a pick which I took apart and removed the centers to add the brads. The center were quite large and would never have mailed well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My second project was for <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Eclectics</a>. There is a lot more info and a few more pictures on this one. Here's picture number one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ja79YZM4lKeYG2cUHpU-zXwr6uuNxSw4dxddjpnJ6oqLvP1Eo64inBOb9wKNwBGKzkOYYEz3iML9z_S4HtJDgmE5mtSkv3lvogq6u7cicy4pwJr9B6TD-q3v_tJ1OKk5AvGTAj7U1reD/s1600/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+1-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_ja79YZM4lKeYG2cUHpU-zXwr6uuNxSw4dxddjpnJ6oqLvP1Eo64inBOb9wKNwBGKzkOYYEz3iML9z_S4HtJDgmE5mtSkv3lvogq6u7cicy4pwJr9B6TD-q3v_tJ1OKk5AvGTAj7U1reD/s400/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+1-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="382" /> </a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The project started with a pumpkin pick I got on sale at Hobby Lobby. It's about 5" across which is a bit large as far as floral pics go. It had a shiny surface that I didn't like so I put clear Gesso on it to get started. After that was dry I added torn tan tissue paper (say that 3 times!) with Mod Podge glue. When it was dry, I used some brown ink to distress it a bit and add depth between the bumps and highlight the texture. Then I used my Millennium pen to trace the words onto the tissue paper and used the Mod Podge again to adhere to the pumpkin. I used 3 different sentiments in all. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY7IurkxrOi-39A1NPvxz-rBat4ftmSg0L9SZZFoMrKMoifzK2ExoTrRTm2Uy1REbls_7NXJL5lkZmCIi1-nhRTQOPX67GA6Ot4Aq9et9qQeUf86Dc88gMqpBHIOwkjUc9n8Y7hYz0eo3S/s1600/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+4-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjY7IurkxrOi-39A1NPvxz-rBat4ftmSg0L9SZZFoMrKMoifzK2ExoTrRTm2Uy1REbls_7NXJL5lkZmCIi1-nhRTQOPX67GA6Ot4Aq9et9qQeUf86Dc88gMqpBHIOwkjUc9n8Y7hYz0eo3S/s400/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+4-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="367" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">"Learn to pause...or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you."</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: center;">
So, do you see why I had trouble choosing which blog got what project this time? They both work for both blogs. Interestingly enough, they both post new challenges today. So, you have twice the viewing pleasure today (I hope it's your pleasure anyway).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly I made the topper for the pumpkin. After I cut out the center of a doily I added 3 different colors of glimmer mist to it (mostly purple). I had to heat set it as I am an impatient crafter (didn't know that about me did you?). I gathered it up as you would to make a cloth yoyo. I actually used button thread to do that. I readied my flowers by removing from the pic (centers stayed attached this time) and arranged with a leaf from another pick and added the ribbons. I did ink the flowers up a tiny bit to soften the colors a little. Here's a close up:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWC3EK5jofyns8peNBogzkQfJvNcBF7tAw4oosrZxLNroAgEyMHLfDYGcXlZBtnTyYarzF2RZYUl5dtvKVyT2q6FkW0u4qpMiJGcaIt0UhFNcCgM9rqjNrSQuHq9Qy99juzhwRT6CbL9JP/s1600/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+2-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="353" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWC3EK5jofyns8peNBogzkQfJvNcBF7tAw4oosrZxLNroAgEyMHLfDYGcXlZBtnTyYarzF2RZYUl5dtvKVyT2q6FkW0u4qpMiJGcaIt0UhFNcCgM9rqjNrSQuHq9Qy99juzhwRT6CbL9JP/s400/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+2-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You may have noticed a little texture going on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4C8OXyaQWEd96PdWPrGWYVsw_4to5L7VAO9AF9wyzq8fGAdN00Kfve4CUaLDqihHC8LXwkMEnG4e2jOS0_J7qAKdqmS1iC4FEqsJrscpTRqhpXu80iO30eAo9zn2Uj5qsgTkWvyhJi91i/s1600/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+3-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4C8OXyaQWEd96PdWPrGWYVsw_4to5L7VAO9AF9wyzq8fGAdN00Kfve4CUaLDqihHC8LXwkMEnG4e2jOS0_J7qAKdqmS1iC4FEqsJrscpTRqhpXu80iO30eAo9zn2Uj5qsgTkWvyhJi91i/s400/MP-2013+08-Altered+Pumpkin+3-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To do this I added black refill ink to a little stencil paste. I found an old piece of plastic I had saved with diamond shapes in it and used it as a stencil. Due to the curved surface of the pumpkin, this was by far the hardest thing to do on this project. I also used a checkerboard stencil in another area. All in all I'm ok with it even if it isn't perfect. After all it is altered art, right? You may also have noticed a bit of texture on the "enjoy the journey" pic above. I used drywall tape and brown ink to create that stenciled look. I guess nothing is safe in my craft room. I will use anything that I can get my hands on to create my projects.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I enjoyed making these projects and hope to make more in the days to come. In the meantime, please visit <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Electic Ellapu</a> and <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Eclectics</a> blogs and check out the awesome inspiration from the rest of the Design Teams. Lots of eye candy there! We would love to see you join our challenges as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Happy Crafting!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today begins the last week of the last challenge for <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/2013/08/challenge-9-inspiration-new-beginnings.html" target="_blank">Fat-Tastic Tuesday</a> under the current leadership. At challenge end there will be a new owner. I am happy to announce the new owner will be Sue Bridesmith of <a href="http://suziegallopinggranny.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">The Galloping Granny</a>. I know she will do a wonderful job. She plans on the blog being invisible for a couple of weeks while she adds her personal touch to the blog and gets things ready for the grand re-opening. So stop by her blog and wish her well and stay tuned as she makes her opening announcement on her blog and Paper Playful. I will announce it here as well. Good luck Sue!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That being said, I want to thank all those who have followed the blog and joined in the challenges to this point. Your patronage has been appreciated. We hope you will continue under the new leader. I would also like to thank our sponsors, Abbie and the Design Team for all their hard work. It could not have been done with out them. Thank you ladies. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our sponsor this last two weeks has been Lacy Sunshine. I have three projects for you from those cute little Gnomes of hers. My first project has a special fold in it from Sizzix.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
we have some awfully cute inspiration pieces from the DT for you to check out. And there is a great prize up for grabs!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the sketch we want you to use:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAfxCWpwxFrDtxTGgU03liNyZZKL7yKCQfHQ0u3t9U9DsogDRimkMsHXsTSoBGg2mjnu4wF__aZYk9YYbO7X-wlRqD8L5mUAVzWhyU_4TMnvxzV1biBq9Nieto2eI1j9DiV3vl5Dv_TDER/s1600/FTTSC+%239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAfxCWpwxFrDtxTGgU03liNyZZKL7yKCQfHQ0u3t9U9DsogDRimkMsHXsTSoBGg2mjnu4wF__aZYk9YYbO7X-wlRqD8L5mUAVzWhyU_4TMnvxzV1biBq9Nieto2eI1j9DiV3vl5Dv_TDER/s320/FTTSC+%239.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And my project:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN_D2vlhzSB_fbQYbupX9HMQYGOf2SM_HC728tGeC0g4vdsQBqY-iq2fOlHfbSFppcYncZNg72pUrmr04YEuZ8iicJ7AS0Y5L6yV_5Jiv5PYNlAGzGahe5pE8mCZsH_iPnpA6lnjRvOfRC/s1600/MS-2013+08-Late-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="382" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN_D2vlhzSB_fbQYbupX9HMQYGOf2SM_HC728tGeC0g4vdsQBqY-iq2fOlHfbSFppcYncZNg72pUrmr04YEuZ8iicJ7AS0Y5L6yV_5Jiv5PYNlAGzGahe5pE8mCZsH_iPnpA6lnjRvOfRC/s400/MS-2013+08-Late-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I just fell in love with this little guy. And seeing as how I have a tenancy to run late it was perfect for a belated birthday card. I used scraps again (the wood grain paper). That is one thing that is great about making fat pages. You can usually make a card from scraps. Anyway, I used Old Olive card stock (SU) for my base, leaves (SU flower petal punch), and image/sentiment backing. I used a die cut from Nestibilities to cut out the frame for my image. I used my scallop border punch (SU) at the top and layered a strip of So Saffron card stock (SU) to which I added a line of black bling dots. The sentiment is printed by hand (not too bad) and the flowers are from Prima. I have colored in my image with Spectrum Noir markers. I love the "almost" Monochromatic look of this card. And aren't those turtle eyes just adorable?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, now it's your turn. Head on over to <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Fat-Tastic Tuesday</a> and check out the DT's inspiration pieces then get your projects uploaded to take part in this new challenge. Can't wait to see what you make!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have an interesting challenge for you this week coming from the Purples at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> and hosted by <span style="color: #ccccff;"><a href="http://scullduggery-cardsbyjacki.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_new">Jacki</a></span>. She as asked for the use of playing cards on our projects this time around. Sound like fun? Then join us!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's my project for this theme.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj32n3fjUvZiQ5fexUoKLUHe-YO2tnAfK7KsmMArEku8ZnfhBi5D8jR7mBaGo9vWW45NKlz3LChYggdw1OGqp6AX_XYGkC9kkuAKFjcpjpCP35u042fDhabDMWqMHkk5QNEcQIrDgeCP7b9/s1600/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Front-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj32n3fjUvZiQ5fexUoKLUHe-YO2tnAfK7KsmMArEku8ZnfhBi5D8jR7mBaGo9vWW45NKlz3LChYggdw1OGqp6AX_XYGkC9kkuAKFjcpjpCP35u042fDhabDMWqMHkk5QNEcQIrDgeCP7b9/s400/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Front-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="398" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ok, so it is a bit of a stretch on the playing card theme but, it works. I love Graphic 45 and found some papers that I had sort of forgotten about as I was sifting through stuff for my craft sale in a few weeks. I also found my burlap ribbon from Maya Road that I have been looking for for some time. I simply tied it in a "soft" knot here and attached with Score Tape and trimmed the ends. I also used a die from My Favorite Things with coordinating paper to make the handmade flower. I then used a small leaf die from SU (Sizzix) with Old Olive card stock behind the flower. The old buttons are from my stash to which I added some string from the burlap. The little pumpkin was made with three punched 3/4" circles from Pumpkin Pie card stock (SU) and layered together with a scrap of Old Olive card stock (SU) for the stem then popped up on foam tape. The closed size of this card is 5-1/4" square to fit in a 5-1/2" square envelope.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The really fun part of this card though is the mechanism inside:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0DLvBNxAZQUfRZ88iN_9Pslcp4gPzVJLhHyehR4HZy-NgxssyUR2od9z3sLPUN2_SZon03cbYH1YijLZbE-ELVH22CFpec183VMbUx8ZVo3qY24nTGlb4ca6JuDStQyWCP9-f8DDwr6p5/s1600/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Inside-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0DLvBNxAZQUfRZ88iN_9Pslcp4gPzVJLhHyehR4HZy-NgxssyUR2od9z3sLPUN2_SZon03cbYH1YijLZbE-ELVH22CFpec183VMbUx8ZVo3qY24nTGlb4ca6JuDStQyWCP9-f8DDwr6p5/s400/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Inside-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saw a card in my newest issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft (UK) from a reader that had this special fold and knew I had to figure it out. Unfortunately there is no pattern out there for the general public unless you buy a book by Michelle Powell. I may do that some day because if she can do this there are probably many more folds I will want to try. Anyway, that being said, It would not be right sharing the pattern I made. However, it wasn't too hard for me to figure out as I love fiddling with special folds. I also adjusted it to fit a quarter sheet envelope as well so I can do that the next time. The reader that made a card like this had not added a cover which I felt it needed to hide the mechanism on the back (& add some depth). However, you could carefully decorate the card when closed using the back side of the slider portion.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a look from the top:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXR9vJoWteGDvz2LJMeiDpfUdO5_yXcQFnnRHS23yZBqsvEBQxljJ5j2Cnj1h80XQfU76FixPgOlAI1UNk3IBIm07TQXMhFvaygQ-dTWKnapiT9JZfJVsfJl9a8PnpoZSuaaLXfjuB7IcH/s1600/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Top-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXR9vJoWteGDvz2LJMeiDpfUdO5_yXcQFnnRHS23yZBqsvEBQxljJ5j2Cnj1h80XQfU76FixPgOlAI1UNk3IBIm07TQXMhFvaygQ-dTWKnapiT9JZfJVsfJl9a8PnpoZSuaaLXfjuB7IcH/s400/FH-2013+08-Halloween+Wonderland-Top-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
As you can see there is plenty of open space here between the inside of the card and the cover. I adjusted this part of the pattern on purpose to have that added depth.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wouldn't this card be great for the grandparents to put on display with photos of the grandchildren on them? Or what about a scenic wish you were here kind of photo? I could even see using a heavy acetate on the slider stamped with permanent ink and making a diorama out of it. Cool, huh?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, there's my inspiration for you. Hope you enjoyed it and will want to try it out for yourselves. Don't forget to stop over at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> and see the rest of the DT's fabulous projects then get busy and join in the fun.</div>

Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yep! It's <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/2013/08/challenge-8-cookingbaked-goods.html" target="_blank">Fat-Tastic Tuesday</a> again! We continue with our sponsor, theme and sketch from last week. You still have a few days to link up your project <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/2013/08/challenge-8-cookingbaked-goods.html" target="_blank">here</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My inspiration project for this week:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd5Ur9kFInQfR3dYqQ-Vw_B1z-y9btF8Mqrf7he9huBj7Sz4VExwAY0V8ZaCzfP-4QuPlH-Tasyz_mviMgruSCYjHp4Nm9NBIUTyRhNwAP3nySy4AA0iq1ulkGYitV5NBmmWwVO1pe5ifw/s1600/NS-2013+08-Crock+Pot-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="397" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd5Ur9kFInQfR3dYqQ-Vw_B1z-y9btF8Mqrf7he9huBj7Sz4VExwAY0V8ZaCzfP-4QuPlH-Tasyz_mviMgruSCYjHp4Nm9NBIUTyRhNwAP3nySy4AA0iq1ulkGYitV5NBmmWwVO1pe5ifw/s400/NS-2013+08-Crock+Pot-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used a bunch of stuff from my stash again. Since I'm cleaning out my craft room I'm finding plenty of things to play with. I have used the crock pot image this time and accentuated the sunflowers which I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. I tried to make the center of the flowers look spotty but not sure if you can see that here. The die-cut is label one form Spellbinders. I turned up the corner of the green "leafy swirls" paper following the sketch although, you don't see much of it because I added the big yellow flower in place of the ribbon on the sketch. I found the beautiful brown flower button that was perfect for a sunflower center (could've been a little bigger around) in my sacred button stash. The background was stamped with a portion of a larger stamp that had some sunflowers on it. I used Versa-Mark to do that. I'm quite happy with my card for this week. I just love sunflowers (any flower really). They make me smile.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Remember the little bird altered art I did <a href="http://stampsinkandpaperpassions.blogspot.com/2013/08/altered-ecletics-challenge-2-anyting.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
Well, as promised, <a href="http://elizabethallan-blog.blogspot.com/2013/06/paper-mache-mixed-media-bird-whimsy.html" target="_blank">here</a> is the link to find the original artist's project.<br />
Her name is Elizabeth Allan and she is quite a talented artist.<br />
You must check out her project (s).<br />
Soooooo much better than my little peeper.<br />
But, hey, it was my first one.<br />
Oh yeah, I'm making another one.<br />
No doubt.<br />
It was so cute and fun to do.<br />
I didn't even mind getting my hands all "yucky".<br />
I just have to work on the coloring a bit.</div>

We are using another one of my sketches:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGAhhUJpUuICMRD4cD-9HP3jNfisgL6bkPRQvg04KpEep0oFKIercDtcdQi_vIsHF3qZ73dyY-2Iex3naIrMmxW94QHYyoyejfJRBK08XsG2kleVwIsWF5_UoiD4Gmew9hmiiWYs-smAWl/s1600/FTTSC+%238.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGAhhUJpUuICMRD4cD-9HP3jNfisgL6bkPRQvg04KpEep0oFKIercDtcdQi_vIsHF3qZ73dyY-2Iex3naIrMmxW94QHYyoyejfJRBK08XsG2kleVwIsWF5_UoiD4Gmew9hmiiWYs-smAWl/s320/FTTSC+%238.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I will admit I did manipulate the sketch a bit this time but I think it still works.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You've seen those individual tarts you can purchase at different bakeries or craft fairs, right? Well, I made a small 4x4 tart box to put one of those in. I know they come in their own box but doesn't this look better than the plain brown wrapper?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Uz0RxS8Y3fL59eBRv8smX_1hkEbVMc9PdZQtwtHcc08AJuBLQRF7D1BjQdc3Rlx3vN-d2SKhwM1uyXHanSelU7y7H4SOgveVirNu_w_8e5729__fp0l_6fg6CyAvb8_TttIjABm87nVl/s1600/MP-2013+08-Tart+Box-front-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5Uz0RxS8Y3fL59eBRv8smX_1hkEbVMc9PdZQtwtHcc08AJuBLQRF7D1BjQdc3Rlx3vN-d2SKhwM1uyXHanSelU7y7H4SOgveVirNu_w_8e5729__fp0l_6fg6CyAvb8_TttIjABm87nVl/s400/MP-2013+08-Tart+Box-front-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The pattern is below for this box. Pretty straight forward really. The heavy paper is from Cloud 9, the ribbon is from Simplicity, the stamped sentiment is from Close To My Heart, the label punch is from Stampin' UP!, and the image is Robyn's Fetish of course. I cut the plaid triangle from heavy paper in my stash. The acetate used for the window was a scrap left over. I used Nestibilities circle die to cut the circle in the lid. When putting this pattern together make sure to put the acetate between layers for a neater look. I forgot to do that. It looks ok but, it would have been nicer looking and more durable if done between layers. Live and learn.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Also as an after thought, you might want to cut and score flaps on the smaller piece so your lid can fit down over the box base instead of having to put it on the inside. I could fix the template at this point but, I'm being a bit lazy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anywho, here's a pic from another angle so you can see the height of the box which is 2".</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEvCSVX6umGqrK7qayBW5nk082jQPThBlczHeYGg0NLFfDfxUTTp7SheUCT5eer6pGq6e63FRfue7LAOYv_0GG-NshiDpbtZsS1DOrOW2NBnnIJqtIX-D9BrrTsKGLJMbck0jFrTohdod1/s1600/MP-2013+08-Tart+Box-side-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="348" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEvCSVX6umGqrK7qayBW5nk082jQPThBlczHeYGg0NLFfDfxUTTp7SheUCT5eer6pGq6e63FRfue7LAOYv_0GG-NshiDpbtZsS1DOrOW2NBnnIJqtIX-D9BrrTsKGLJMbck0jFrTohdod1/s400/MP-2013+08-Tart+Box-side-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All in all I'm ok with the way this turned out. I could have added a lot more fru-fru but it's what's inside that the recipient will be after, right? Hey, wouldn't this be cute with a cookie image (or maybe punch art Cookie Monster) and a stack of big M&M cookies on the inside? Mmmm......</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8yRFpOpCWKH3edVu959OX6eNwFw2m2zML9HHCB-KceDlx1VV3P_dLY4MnAQRQM0mY_0URLh8O7ePuT1KVDfEUr3VGEm6RGFiL6f8Yyxvzu_TytVn9kcYr0-r0q4cw9ShKdVwxTHpL91vZ/s1600/Cookie+Treat+Box+2pc-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8yRFpOpCWKH3edVu959OX6eNwFw2m2zML9HHCB-KceDlx1VV3P_dLY4MnAQRQM0mY_0URLh8O7ePuT1KVDfEUr3VGEm6RGFiL6f8Yyxvzu_TytVn9kcYr0-r0q4cw9ShKdVwxTHpL91vZ/s400/Cookie+Treat+Box+2pc-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So with this template the sides are 2" and the square part of the box is 4". I recommend shaving just the tiniest sliver off of the smaller piece before layering it inside the big one. Just FYI, I always make a cheap white card stock sample for myself to keep. That way if I lose anything stored on my computer I have a physical sample in my files.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's time for another challenge from the purples over at <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> and the challenge theme was chosen by ... Moi. Yep, yours truly.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
School will start this month for many of us and although I no longer have children in elementary (my baby is starting Jr. High School this year, sniff ... sniff) I thought we would have a school theme for those of you who just might be looking for some cute projects for teachers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am in an upcycle mood lately so I have turned a small pop-top single serve fruit can into a treat holder. Now, I can't take credit for this wonderful idea as it is one I saw several years ago. I have only done this once before and it had more of a Fall theme so I am in new territory here with the school theme. Here's a picture of the can:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFKEfhd6tyhMni6Q2VL9C2N4v6CmaSRjzwJBEPKq2wH37W5FB72mYYLenqV-FTkM_PDa3wND1jhz8hiiYJ0dLSwUfGePFXNBBy2QFGRmiRc4oP1SHM07LroKh1dkP0ikouxe5Qtnenep4Z/s1600/MP-2013+07-Treat+Can-bare-Patricia+Dolinsek.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFKEfhd6tyhMni6Q2VL9C2N4v6CmaSRjzwJBEPKq2wH37W5FB72mYYLenqV-FTkM_PDa3wND1jhz8hiiYJ0dLSwUfGePFXNBBy2QFGRmiRc4oP1SHM07LroKh1dkP0ikouxe5Qtnenep4Z/s320/MP-2013+07-Treat+Can-bare-Patricia+Dolinsek.JPG" width="273" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The trick with this little puppy is to use a special can opener (purchased at Wal-Mart) that will cut tops/bottoms of cans and leaves no sharp edges. A bit on the expensive side but worth it once you get used to using it. So, as you can see I left the top in place and cut off the bottom of the can, ate the fruit (yummy!), washed & dried the can then let it sit for a day or two just to make sure it was good and dry. Obviously the label was peeled off. No need to worry about the stickem that the paper label was glued on with, that will be covered.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next you want to fill the can with wrapped treats and hot glue the bottom back on. You could use a liquid glue but I didn't want to sit and hold it while it dried. Yeah, I'm an impatient crafter. We all have our faults. Makes me wonder how I will ever get through an art journal which I desperately want to do. But, that's a story for another time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I wrapped the designer paper I wanted to use around the can and made a mark where I would trim it down. No measuring here, I'm impatient remember? Anyway, I used Scor-Tape to attach the paper to the can and used a little liquid qlue at the top and bottom if there were any gaps, which there were. Also had to snip the paper a bit at the top to go around the curved surface gracefully.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added a 1/8" ribbon at the top and bottom of the can to hide the metal rims. Just didn't like them showing. You could leave them uncovered depending on the look you are going for.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At the pop-top on top of the can I very carefully (so as not to pop the top) added ribbons and tied (only once) to decorate and add a little fru-fru. Lastly I added a string to the pop-top which I attached some layered stars and hand printed a sentiment on the top one.This project was made from scraps from my new "scrap box". So, what do you think? Pretty quick to make (except for the drying time after washing the can). To my surprise these pop-top type cans actually come in different small sizes but of course, you could use a soup can if you wanted too. I just thought this size was too cute. Here's a couple more pictures.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Wow, has this summer gone by fast. It's August already. That means school starts in a few short weeks and it's time for a new challenge at <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Eclectics</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
A friend of mine showed me a project on a blog recently and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make one. So, I took the supplies I needed on my trip up north to see her and we made our projects together. We didn't finish them while I was there (we saw a stamp show for 2 days - whoo hoo!) but almost as soon as I got home I finished mine. What fun. So, here's a close up shot.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjirKZfL-cruvtacq_XNDCOO1522X269ZYv-4VD5Ru7r-xaMusrOD4rH7uBfo_-z-4qdjyl3R8du6HXMUBhPyF7AboPKtFeDp8fvlhtSiBgf9XWCbDsLk6MPx8W3ybsRQXFLmSPIsn0lxJj/s1600/MP-2013+07-Long+Leg+Bird-zoomPatricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjirKZfL-cruvtacq_XNDCOO1522X269ZYv-4VD5Ru7r-xaMusrOD4rH7uBfo_-z-4qdjyl3R8du6HXMUBhPyF7AboPKtFeDp8fvlhtSiBgf9XWCbDsLk6MPx8W3ybsRQXFLmSPIsn0lxJj/s400/MP-2013+07-Long+Leg+Bird-zoomPatricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Isn't this just the cutest? I wish I could <a href="http://elizabethallan-blog.blogspot.com/2013/06/paper-mache-mixed-media-bird-whimsy.html" target="_blank">link</a> you back to where my friend found this. I'll keep looking and edit my post when I do find it. Bottom line is I pretty much cased it. I did do my project a smidgen different though.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We started with a bird die-cut from Tim Holtz and some corrugated cardboard that had been marked for the trash bin. Then we bought a newspaper, my friend quickly read it, then we tore some of it into small pieces as if for paper mac'he. After cutting out 3 birds each and trimming off the longer tail we did not need, we each glued 3 birds together and let sit while we tore the newspaper. We then started applying the paper pieces with Mod-Podge glue onto our birds. I gave this part entirely too much thought as I tried to place paper pieces with the name of the town on in places where I thought it would show as a remembrance of the weekend. In the end, I could only sort of see them but, I knew they were there. However, we did have a few chuckles over not using the obituaries. Once this was all dry we stamped a random design with purpose on both sides of our birds with Momento ink. At this point we quit for the night and went to bed as the next day was to be a long one.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I got home from my trip I continued to the next step which was to distress the bird randomly with colored inks of my choosing. I used regular craft type ink but, I should have used something with a little deeper color. This is the point where the original artist used clear Gesso before applying the ink. I skipped that part. What I did do is use my inks then poured on extra thick embossing enamel and heated with my heat gun. This was repeated several times until a smooth finish was acquired, about 3 times. After the first application of ink I used Versa-mark ink so I wouldn't muddy up the colors. The same process was done for each of the wings which were circles cut in half (only 2 layers of cardboard).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To attach the wings I used glue and a staple gun then camouflaged the staple with a sharpie and a gel pen. Hey, it worked! The glue alone was just not enough to hold them. Next time I think I will cut a small hole and stuff the end of the wing in it with some good stick-um glue. I also added a couple of brads with glue for the eyes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The legs I made using a fairly heavy gauge aged wire to which I added bends in to make feet. This part is also different as the original artist connected the wire to buttons. The buttons were cute, just not what I wanted. The last thing I did was add random little white dots with my gel pen and adjust the legs so my little peep would stand up. And here he is:</div>

This really was fun to make and worked perfectly for my August post at <a href="http://alteredeclectics.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Altered Eclectics</a>. Please visit my fellow DT's at AE and at their own blogs, they would love to hear from you. There are some great inspiration projects waiting for you. Remember, this is a monthly challenge blog so you have time to make something of your own and enter it into our challenge. Can't wait to see what you make.</div>

First, the sketch.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Per the norm, we use this sketch for two weeks (last week and this week). I used "Deacon School Sign It" for my first project.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The papers are from a school pack of papers which I just love. I punched out the numbers from one of the papers - they were the perfect size for the image and sketch. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers of course. The chalkboard I colored in a way to look as though it had been erased a few times. I will add a message with a white gel pen when it is time to give it to that "Special Teacher". I love the way this card turned out.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So my second project looks like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiphdJi8w2BatwZfyrxJp61Qckz6hsrrDn3F-_IVUww8D__bEIDnHNyHKCzxbAW-nWTM2XqFsYMiIyb5XwJYxkcDpQdG7_xjwadVdtzw-Tmmk14N6qDCFuEdaPL5-MtfBca2kFN0NZqKOBR/s1600/NS-2013+07-Back+To+School+2-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="390" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiphdJi8w2BatwZfyrxJp61Qckz6hsrrDn3F-_IVUww8D__bEIDnHNyHKCzxbAW-nWTM2XqFsYMiIyb5XwJYxkcDpQdG7_xjwadVdtzw-Tmmk14N6qDCFuEdaPL5-MtfBca2kFN0NZqKOBR/s400/NS-2013+07-Back+To+School+2-Patricia+Dolinsek.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love this image called "JJC September". I cut off the E=mc2 part so I could pop this awesome teacher up with foam tape. I may yet add that in myself later. The fun part of this project is that I made it entirely with scraps from my scrap box. Yes, I have been cleaning my stamp room and did not have a "scrap box" before. What?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
No, really.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I saved pieces with the originals. Hmm, quite bulky actually. More on the re-org later. Anyway, I made this project a fat page instead of a card. The reason is I will be adding this to the front of a paper sack to make a gift bag. Great idea for using your fat pages. The small white bags work great but, seeing as this is a school theme, maybe a plain brown bag would be better? Anyway, when I do that, I can dress up the bag a bit as this project alone is a little plain. But, I do like the interesting color combo I went with.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, there you have it. Another week (2) under the belt for <a href="http://fattastictuesday.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">FTT</a>. I sure hope you will stop by and take part in our challenge. Bugaboo is a great sponsor with great images.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello Crafters!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry I'm a little late with this weeks challenge. I have been out of town for a stamp show in Bloomington Minnesota. I'll have more on that later.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For now, I would like to show you the card I've made for <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclecitc Ellapu</a>. <a href="http://purplecinn-craftycrafter.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Tabitha</a> is our hostess and she has chosen a theme of "Shades of Purple" so I thought flowers and butterflies would be good.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Everything here came from my stash this time (almost). I couldn't believe I have such pretty stuff in my stash. I just love purple and had a great time making this for you. I used a die cut for the corners from Spellbinders, the sentiment is from Fiskars, and the punch and the leaves (from bird punch) are from Stampin' Up!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to get on over to <a href="http://eclecticellapu.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Eclectic Ellapu</a> with a purple project of your own to upload to our challenge.</div>
