Create Your Classroom Project

Hello Crafters!
I have one more project for you from Create Your Classroom Design Team. I have used the "Back to School" stamp set that you can get here.
I am just loving the way this card turned out. Besides the Back to School stamp set, I used SU card stock for the card base and heart die cut  from Nestabilities. I ran the card front through a dotted embossing folder from Tim Hotz, added papers from Simple Stories, and a little balled up ribbon from my stash for texture. I used the recipe file punch (not sure that's what it is called) from SU on the side of the month paper also.  I added a heart brad to the sentiment which was a perfect fit. I faux stitched the heart and added dots along with the faux stitching on "feb." on the month paper to add a bit of detail. Once I got to this point it just seemed to need a little something extra so I added some feathers I purchased at Hobby Lobby tucking them under the month paper and carefully gluing in place. Interesting prints on the feathers too, don't you think?  To fill the empty space between the month and the heart I used some foam letters from Tree House Studios and altered the capital H to look like a 4 (the capital I was ready to use for the 1).  OK, that worked out.  Once done, I decided to work on the inside of the card:
The stamped sentiment is from PSX (2001) layered onto black card stock.  I used the heart border punch from SU on a strip of the paper to match the front of the card and added the white card stock so the design wouldn't get lost. Of course, I inked up all the edges of everything on the front and the inside for a distressed look. So, there you have it, a great Valentine for my son to give to his teacher. Be sure to stop over at Create Your Classroom to see the rest of the teams' projects and to get your own "Back to School" stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by today - hope to see you again soon!
