CR84FN Challenge 2nd sample

Ok, I have to admit that this CR84FN63 Color Challenge is fun, I just can't stop!  This is a great color combo so I've included the inspiration photo for you again just in case you missed it yesterday.

I guess when you say denim I can't think if anything but country style.  That's exactly what I was going for with this project.  When I started putting this one together that country song came to mind about blue jeans and pearls.  Maybe that was my inner voice saying, "Go ahead, do it".  You have to listen to your inner voice, right?  Well, if it's your creative inner voice you do.  So, I listened and this is the result.  As much as I liked yesterdays card, I love this project even more.

The directions are pretty simple.  I used Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Stockings die (the largest one fits in my hand) and die cut 2 stockings from brown paper bag, crumpled it a couple of times and inked with Stampin' Up! Soft Suede ink pad.  The top cuffs (1-1/2 x 4) (crimp after cutting), heels and toes (freehand cut) are SU card stock Buckaroo Blue (can't believe I still have any of this left).

The lace ribbon was glued to the bottom of both cuff pieces using hot glue.  I used hot glue to glue the stocking together as well (leave opening at top) after I glued the cut heels and toes down (used white glue here).  I added the jute between the front and back cuff with hot glue then added the stars.  The stars (2 each) are from paper bag that I crumpled and inked the same as the stocking.  However, I did add some denim glimmer mist to make them more blue.  I used white glue to glue the stars together but added a little hot glue where the jute is attached.  Again, using hot glue I attached the pearls at the bottom of the front cuff only.  I felt like the cuff needed a little more something and when I get that feeling on a project I usually add ribbon, just like I did here.  Just for purposes of this picture, I added some tissue paper to the inside of the stocking so it would have some dimension.  I made this thinking I would use it as an ornament but, wouldn't this look cute as a package topper with a little candy cane or peppermint stick peeking out the top?  You might even be able to get a small package of hot cocoa in there.

I hope you enjoyed my project today!
