Eclectic Ellapu Challenge #13 - Special Birthday

Hello Crafters!
It's time again for a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu. The Purple Team is up to bat with a Special birthday theme. My God-daughter is having a very special birthday this month so I made this for her. She loves the girly girl stuff. So here's my (her) card.
It has a special fold too (another one from my SU classes with Susie Wood). This picture also gives you a good view of the dimension on the flower element. I just love the subtle colors on this card too.
I used SU card stock - vanilla and pink pirouette - and ink - going gray - for the base of the card. I stamped the background with a swirls stamp set from Flourishes in the gray ink as well. I chose a beautiful pink flocked damask paper from My Minds Eye to layer the flower on and layered that on another piece of vanilla card stock with foam tape after inking the edges of both. I made a ribbon yo-yo with gray organdy ribbon and attached it to the card with a "Gluber" (2" round glue dot). I used another Gluber to attach a pink ribbon flower and added a small piece of green organdy ribbon folded in a leaf shape to both sides of the flower before attaching the flower to the ribbon yo-yo. You could choose to use hot glue to reinforce the glue dots if the assembled flower seems a little heavy. I wanted the sentiment - SU - label to curl quite a bit so after stamping, cutting the points and inking I added about 3 layers of foam tape under the middle of the label and only one layer on each end curling the points up afterwords. Good thing I am hand delivering this one! I hand printed the "21st" with SU going gray marker and punched out with a 1/2" circle punch, inked the edges and attached with a small glue dot. Now all that's left is the bling! I really wanted this card to be special as this girly girl loves sparkle so I added plenty of bling just for her. I sure hope she likes it!

Do stop by Eclectic Ellapu and see what my other teamies have made to inspire you. You won't be disappointed! I hope you'll also go back to join in the fun.
Have fun crafting!

  2. I'm going to guess that she will love it. It's a beautiful card...very elegant and girly. The papers are lovely and the layering adds so much dimension. Love the use of that gorgeous ribbon for a yoyo behind the pretty flower. This is a special card for a special occasion!
